399 Healing Prayers for My Sick Mother for Strength, Peace, and Miracles
Your mother is sick. You have watched her fade. The woman who once carried you, fed you, stayed up with you, and drove you to school now lies in a hospital bed or rests in a recliner at home. She is tired. She is in pain. She is scared even if she does not say it. And you feel helpless.
But you are not helpless. You can pray. You can pray with a ferocity that surprises even you. You can pray with a persistence that will not let go. Your prayers matter. They reach the ears of a God who loves your mother more than you do. That is hard to believe. Your love for her feels infinite. But His love is. And He hears every word you whisper in hospital waiting rooms, in darkened bedrooms, and in chapel pews.
These 399 prayers cover every aspect of your mother’s illness and your journey alongside her. Some prayers ask for physical healing of specific parts of her body. Others ask for emotional strength for her when she feels like giving up. Many prayers are for you, the caretaker, who is exhausted and afraid. Some pray for medical wisdom for doctors and nurses. Others ask for peace about death if healing does not come.
You do not need to pray all 399 at once. Your mother may be in the hospital for days or weeks. These prayers are meant to be spread out. Pick the ones that match her current condition. If she is in surgery, pray the surgery prayers. If she is recovering, pray the recovery prayers. If she is nearing the end, pray the end of life prayers. Come back to other sections as her situation changes.
Pray these prayers out loud when you are alone with her. She may not be conscious. She may be sedated. But she can still hear your voice. Hearing her child pray may bring her more comfort than any medicine.
Let us pray for your mother.

Lord, I surrender my guilt. I did what I could.
-
Father, I surrender my grief. Not to get rid of it. To let You hold it.
-
Jesus, I surrender my mother’s death. If she dies, she dies into Your arms.
-
Holy Spirit, I surrender my mother’s life. If she lives, she lives for You.
-
God, either way, she is Yours. Either way, I am Yours.
-
Lord, let Your will be done. Not mine. Matthew 26:39
-
Father, I trust You. Not because I understand. Because You are good.
-
Jesus, I trust You. Not because life is fair. Because You are faithful.
-
Holy Spirit, I trust You. Not because I feel Your presence. Because You promised.
-
God, I trust You with my mother’s body. Heal it or raise it.
-
Lord, I trust You with my mother’s soul. Save it. She is in Your hands.
-
Father, I trust You with my own heart. Break it if You must. Then heal it.
-
Jesus, I trust You with my future. Life without her will be hard. You will be with me.
-
Holy Spirit, I trust You with my family. Hold us together.
-
God, I trust You even when I cannot see. Faith is trust in the dark.
-
Lord, I trust You even when it hurts. The hurt is real. Your love is real too.
-
Father, into Your hands I commend my mother. Luke 23:46
-
Jesus, into Your hands I commend my grief.
-
Holy Spirit, into Your hands I commend my hope.
-
God, into Your hands I commend my life.
-
Lord, I have done all I can. I have prayed. I have loved. I have been present.
-
Father, now I rest. I rest in You.
-
Jesus, You said, come to me, all who are weary and burdened. I am weary. I am burdened. I come. Matthew 11:28
-
Holy Spirit, give me rest. Deep rest.
-
God, let me sleep tonight. My mother is in Your hands. I can sleep.
-
Lord, let me wake tomorrow with strength for whatever comes.
-
Father, let me keep praying. Not out of desperation. Out of trust.
-
Jesus, let me keep hoping. Not out of denial. Out of faith.
-
Holy Spirit, let me keep loving. Out of the love You put in me.
-
God, whatever happens to my mother, I will praise You.
-
Lord, whatever happens to my mother, I will serve You.
-
Father, whatever happens to my mother, I will love You.
-
Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in You will live, even if they die. John 11:25
-
Holy Spirit, let me believe that. Really believe it.
-
God, my mother is dying. Or she will die someday. We all die. But death is not the end.
-
Lord, You have the last word. And Your last word is life.
-
Father, I cannot see what You are doing. But I trust that You are doing something good.
-
Jesus, I cannot feel Your presence right now. But I trust that You are here.
-
Holy Spirit, I cannot hear Your voice right now. But I trust that You are speaking.
-
God, I wait for You. I wait for healing. I wait for resurrection. I wait for reunion.
-
Lord, I wait. Help me wait well.
-
Father, thank You for my mother. Thank You for every day.
-
Jesus, thank You for Your mother, Mary. She watched You die. She understands.
-
Holy Spirit, thank You for being with me in this. I could not do it without You.
-
Lord, heal my mother. Or take her home. Or both. Either way, let her know that she is loved. By me. And by You. Amen.
